Breathtaking works of art that dazzle with color, light, and form—by day and night

Artworks by world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly will be on view at NYBG in his first major garden exhibition in New York in more than ten years. CHIHULY, presented by Bank of America, will showcase more than 20 installations and include drawings and early works that reveal the evolution and development of Chihuly’s artistic process during his celebrated career. Set within NYBG’s landmark landscape and buildings, this sensory-filled exhibition is a must-see throughout the changing seasons from spring through fall.
Special weekend celebrations, films, poetry, and fun-filled art programs for kids offer colorful and imaginative tributes to nature. On CHIHULY Nights, the exhibition is infused with a magical energy as the artworks are spectacularly illuminated amid NYBG’s sweeping vistas and magnificent Conservatory.

On CHIHULY Nights, the exhibition is infused with a magical energy as the artworks are spectacularly illuminated amid NYBG’s sweeping vistas and magnificent Conservatory. After sunset, the atmosphere is thrilling: experience the heightened drama and luminous quality of Dale Chihuly’s colors and forms when lit under the evening sky. In the Visitor Center plaza, a rotating lineup of performing artists and musicians provides entertainment while you relax and enjoy shopping, food, and Avión Tequila cocktails available for purchase.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: 
JAZZ & CHIHULY

Fridays, June 16, July 14, August 18; 6:30–10:30 p.m.
With the glass-domed Conservatory as the backdrop, this innovative series developed in collaboration with Catskill Jazz Factory and Absolutely Live Entertainment presents three themed evenings showcasing today’s dynamic jazz talent. Bring your blankets and low-back chairs and enjoy the best seat in the house on the scenic Conservatory Lawn. Before and after each concert, stroll among the CHIHULY artworks, glistening at dusk and mesmerizing when lit after the sun sets. Light fare and beverages are available for purchase.

Marriott has recently opened what is the tallest hotel in NYC.   The hotel is a combination of Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn.  Located at 1717 Broadway (near 54th St W) it is convenient to Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Central Park.   The Residence Inn rooms have kitchens with refrigerators and microwaves.

Attractions re-opened

The Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid's Space Shuttle Pavilion have both re-opened following repairs after Sandy.  

Statue of Liberty visitors must purchase advance tickets.  The crown and pedestal are available for visitors.  Buy at http://www.statuecruises.com/choose_tickets.aspx.   Ellis Island will be closed throughout 2013.

The Intrepid Pavilion offers a close up look at the Space Shuttle Enterprise.  There is also the USS Growler submarine and a British Airways Concorde in addition to Intrepid Aircraft Carrier.  http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/
